Start at Heath End Village Green. Bear left onto Heath End Road.
- Bear left across Bishopswood Lane then left into the Withies with its pond and contemplative area.
- Carefully cross Heath End Road to Poplar Corner with its magnificent chestnut tree – in late spring, the ground is covered with snowdrops followed by daffodils.
- Carry on along Brimpton Road, passing Wellington Crescent and Hazel Green on your right.
- Bear right through the woodland to emerge onto Woodlands Road, close to the bus stop. If its muddy, continue along Brimpton Road on the footpath and then turn right onto Woodlands Road.
- Follow Woodlands Road, crossing Pinewood Close and Portway (the Parish Notice Board is on the corner), until you reach Long Grove on your left.
- Turn left into Long Grove. You’ll pass the Baughurst Community Orchard on your right, with the Long Grove Play Area in the distance.
- Continue to the T-junction on your left and go left into this cul-de-sac. At the triangle with cotoneasters, turn right onto the Hampshire/Berkshire border bridleway. If its muddy, continue following Long Grove round a long bend to the Play Area and continue at 10.
- Follow the bridleway bearing right past the Bronze Age Baughurst or Borson Barrows (large burial mounds) onto Long Grove.
- Bear left on Long Grove and continue until you reach the play area on your left (the Community Orchard can be seen to the right).
- Pass the playground and turn left at the T-junction onto Woodlands Road. If you wish to visit the community contemplative garden, continue to the T‑junction where it will be on your left. Otherwise, turn right past the garages into Portway.
- After the garages on your left, bear left onto the footpath and follow it to The Forge — the small shopping area with Tesco, a café and takeaways, on the site of the old village forge.
- Retrace your steps from the Forge, turning left onto Portway.
- Take the first left into a Portway cul‑de‑sac, at the end there is a footpath. After a short distance, turn right onto a woodland footpath.
- Follow the path to the right into Mornington Close, then turn left into Wellington Crescent.
- Walk along Wellington Crescent and cross Heath End Road to finish.
