Baughurst Community Orchard
In a heart-warming display of community spirit, over 50 residents and friends of Baughurst braved the cold and rain on 8th February to transform a piece of land at Long Grove into a thriving orchard. Led by local resident Kevin, who tirelessly promoted the project, the community came together to plant 22 fruit trees, including varieties of apple, plum, and pear, along with 250 hedgerow plants: all donated by the Hampshire Forest Partnership. Tadley & Baughurst Arts Club
Tadley & Baughurst Art Club was started many years ago by a group of friends who wanted to paint in an atmosphere of friendship & mutual support, and this continues to this day. Our members meet in the Beavers Room at Tadley Community Centre, Newchurch Road on Tuesday mornings to enjoy each others company while working on their own art. We hold various events including a yearly exhibition where Members can display and even sell their works.
To find out more find us on Facebook or email tadleyandbaughurstartclub@gmail.com
We are holding our 2025 exhibition over the weekend of 10th–11th May at the Ambrose Allen Centre and would love to see you there.
Some examples of the works include “adding something to a famous artwork” below.

A Neighbourhood Plan is a legal document which tells the Planning Department about what local people want; within a defined area; and is formulated by the people who live and work there.
Without it, we have little protection from development that developers can argue is ‘sustainable’. Without you, we can’t write it.
Currently, unlike many neighbouring parishes, Baughurst Parish doesn’t have one – and we think that leaves the area vulnerable to inappropriate development. We need to ensure that any development is the right sort and in the right place.
We need to have a say in what our community thinks could improve the area, for example we could think about:
- Creating a shared vision for Baughurst, influencing building designs to reflect the local character of the villages and identifying what type of housing we think we need.
- Creating and enhancing our open spaces, including nature reserves or green gaps, to encourage outdoor activities.
- Secure more funding to deliver our plans, which in turn will improve Baughurst’s infrastructure, community engagement, and overall quality of life.

Join us to keep Basingstoke and Deane clean
We are looking for volunteers, groups and organisations to support our new campaign.
Launching in February half term and including an event organised by borough council at Little Pen Wood on Wednesday 19 February, this initiative encourages individuals and groups to run or take part in local litter picks or clean-up sessions in their areas across the borough.
Keeping our streets, parks, play areas and countryside clean and tidy is a key priority for us at the council, but we can all play our part to reduce litter and stamp out antisocial acts like graffiti, dog fouling and fly-tipping which blight our communities.
The local clean-up campaign draws on themes of the national Great British Spring Clean run by Keep Britain Tidy and focusses on what we can all do to promote pride in our borough. To help the launch of Keep Basingstoke and Deane Clean, we are hoping that you will join us in building a programme of organised litter picks and events to tidy up important areas in our communities from Monday 17 February until Sunday 2 March.
But it won’t stop there, groups and volunteers will be encouraged to join in existing litter picks or community tidy up activities taking place all year round. Please see web site here.
