The Baughurst Society

This is the web site of the Baughurst Society, located in the parish of Baughurst in Hampshire, UK.

Baughurst is a parish with a proud past and a promising future. From its countryside and green spaces to its traditions and community spirit, it is a place worth cherishing. The Baughurst Society exists to conserve and enhance this unique, rural character so that both today’s residents and future generations can enjoy it.

We are more than a committee. We are neighbours who care deeply about where we live. Together, we have already shown what can be achieved: creating a thriving Community Orchard that now hosts events from Moth Trapping evenings to Easter and Halloween celebrations; supporting initiatives like the Repair Café and Sustainable Baughurst; and working alongside groups such as U3A, Parish News and the Tadley & Baughurst Art Club. Each of these projects has brought people together, strengthened our community, and left something lasting behind.

Our history also shows that when the parish is threatened by inappropriate development, we can stand firm and succeed. By joining forces, we have protected the character of Baughurst before — and with your help, we will continue to do so.

But the Society is not only about defending what we have. It is about celebrating our heritage, empowering our community, and driving positive change. Whether through walks, talks, campaigns, or simply sharing stories, we aim to make Baughurst a place where people feel connected, proud, and involved.

Membership is open to all who love this parish — whether you have lived here all your life or are new to the village. By joining, you add your voice, your ideas, and your support to a growing movement that keeps Baughurst special.

Together, we can protect what we value, improve what we share, and pass on a stronger, richer parish to those who come after us.

Come and be part of it. Join the Baughurst Society today.

To meet its commitments and to demonstrate an active membership, the Society requests its members to donate a small annual fee (currently £10.00) by becoming an annual member through this web site. This is the link to join us.
